|Parnell Donohue was the first Democratic Attorney General for South Dakota, serving from 1959 to 1961. During his tenure, Donohue initiated the publications of the Attorney General’s Opinions, re-established the Securities Commission and supervised the organization and implementation of the First Officers and Criminal Justice Training School. He earned a special commendation for his initiative in establishing and implementing the first County Highway Safety Council.
Donohue also served the state as Ambassador in the South Dakota Diplomatic Corps under three administrations. He has been cited in Who’s Who of South Dakota and Who’s Who in America and was named American Legionnaire of the Year. Donohue was a member of the American Trial Lawyers Association.
