Buried At: Omaha, NE

Msgr. Bouska came to America in 1889 and had his first pastorate at Crete, NE. In December 1893, he came to St. Venceslaus Parish at Tabor, SD and served 48 years until his death in 1941.
Msgr. Bouska entered the seminary and completed study in Switzerland. He was ordained in 1889. That same year, along with two classmates, he came to the U.S.
After his arrival in Tabor, SD, Msgr. Bouska could see that the old chalk stone church, which had been built in Tabor in 1874, was inadequate and a fund drive was started. In 1895, the fund drive was completed and the new church was constructed. Msgr. Bouska was also instrumental in building a three-story parochial school.
In 1902, the then Rev. E.A. Bouska was named as advisor to the Bishop and, in 1908, was made a permanent rector, a distinction conferred upon only two other Czech priests in America at the time.
Msgr. Bouska was given a presidential appointment of the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army and represented the U.S. as a delegate to the Republic of Czechoslovakia in 1919 when the newly created Republic was formed.
Msgr. Bouska was a tireless builder and worker. He was also a great patriot and a friend to so many people in the Tabor community and beyond.
